This month every Wednesday we went to mindfulness. The teacher was one of our school teachers and that was very surprising. Her name is Miss Ikino
fo and she amazingly good at mindfulness. First we had to warm up. We had to close our eyes and take deep breaths. Then we had to feel what we were touching with our eyes closed. Then we played a game where we had to get the the hula hoop over our heads and the under our legs. That was a fun game. After the we get into some poses and we all were relaxed.

Waikowhai Intermediate

Visit to Waikowhai Intermediate

Today the year 6's went to Waikowhai Intermediate to check out our new classes. We had to come before 9 so we would be there to see which class we were in. We all excited to meet our class mates. I made one friend pretty fast. His name is Atu, he knew most of my primary friends. After that our teacher Mrs L, she is a really kind and we had a lot of fun with her. She gave us our name on a paper to colour. Then two year 8's took pictures of us and asked us to say our names. She then gave our parents a notice for next year. But after all we had a lot of fun. Then after we went back to school.

Skateboarding

Who in the world at school gets to skateboard instead of writing? Well we did. Today two skateboarders, Ben and Lawrence come to teach us how to skate. They were really good at skateboarding. They are from Young Gun Skate School. They taught us different skills like Tic Tax and the Crab Walk.

 I was a little scared when I got on the skateboard at first. Then after some time I got used to it. The first trick was Tic Tax and it was hard for me because I didn't know how to even jump the tip on my skateboard! The second trick was the Crab Walk it was easier because all we had to do was turn left and right like a crab.

 The last trick we learned was the Snake. It was the easiest out of all the tricks, all we had to do was lean to the right and then to the left. Easy right, tell me if I am wrong? Then we played a game called what's up wolf pack. What we did was one person would be the wolf and then he/she will skate straight and the kids follow, if the wolf turns and see you moving you have to go back four steps but if you go in front of the wolf then you go back eight steps. Then after we did all the learning we had free time to ride. I really had a lot of fun skating with all my friends. Next time I am hoping to do better.

Wonder project

 Wonder Project

On Wednesday we got to test fly our bottle rockets. First we had to do all the adjustments we wanted to make to our rockets so it was more aerodynamic so it would go far. Our team were making the wings and I hot glued them on our rocket. Then we had to cut a top of a bottle so we can make it aerodynamic. After all the adjustments we went outside to fly our rockets. We went second and our rocket went the furthest. The other teams got really close to our rocket. We had to use the pump and pump it at 60 psi. You're probably thinking how far our one went, well it went 24 metres! We had a lot fun test flying our bottle rockets. We were all surprised how far all of our bottle rockets went. We all did great job making our rockets. Some of the wings fell off other kids rockets. But we had a lot of fun.

Finishing Goals slideshow

                     Finishing Goals slideshow

On Wednesday Te Waka Ako finishing our goals slideshow because we have our student conferences soon. We had a check lists that we had to check is our goals slideshow. Once we have finished we had to buddy check with someone. Then you will check every link to anything and check if you have your levels and your target levels. Then you help others kids and get them finished too. If you have checked the person and there finished he/her has to check their goals slideshow again. I finished after some kids and I think I helped 7 or 8 other kids. We all finished some didn't but it was fun.

Cross country

                            Cross Country

Yesterday Waikowhai Primary School did cross country. There were four stations we had to got to the Tennis, Hand ball, Game, Warming up. First the year ones went, we had to go all the way around the field, then down backtrack and then up to the back of Te Waka Ako, then in and through the bush. After the bush we had to go to the pool and around and to the finish but the year three, four, five and six's had to do two laps. After the year ones had it was the years zeros turn and from there it went on and on until the year six's turn. I got nervous some other kids to I came seventh and my friend Yousuf came first then Indie came after a minute that is how fast Yousuf is. I really liked doing cross country.

Binary number Art

This week I have done binary number art. What we had to do is follow the binary card. Why I am blogging this is because I really like doing binary number art. What we had to do was to find a buddy to work with. My buddy was Masi and we were doing a parrot. We first did the purple and then the black. We finished just in time and then we gave it to the teacher. We had a lot of fun doing the binary number art. Blog you later.
